Heritage Arts Mentorship Applications
MNBC’s Ministry of Culture, Heritage and Language are pleased to present the Clasp Purse Métis Heritage Arts Mentorship, facilitated by Métis artist Lisa Shepherd. Over three months of virtual workshops, participants will be taught how to create their own beaded clasp purse in a small group mentorship setting. At the end of the mentorship, the clasp purses will be featured in a temporary exhibition at the Amelia Douglas Institute in Surrey, B.C.
The mentorship opportunity is open to nine B.C.-based MNBC Citizens. The mentorship workshops will start in January 2026 and run until April 2026. All workshops will be held virtually.
Please note that this level 4 mentorship is for Métis artists with intermediate to advanced skills in hand sewing and beadwork. This mentorship will not teach beginner beadwork skills. If you are seeking beginner beading, tufting, embroidery or quilling workshops, please follow and register for our level 1 or 2 Métis Artist Talks workshops.
A selection committee will select nine Métis artists. Selected participants will be notified by December 12, 2025.
The deadline to apply for this mentorship series is December 1, 2025 at 12:00 pm PST.
